They were hungry and thirsty; they fainted from exhaustion. ¹ 

In that day your ¹  beautiful young women ²  and your ³  young men will faint from thirst. ⁴ 

If you faint ¹  in the day of trouble, ²  your strength is small! ³ 

Indeed, God has made my heart faint; ¹  the Almighty has terrified me.

On that day the army struck down the Philistines from Micmash to Aijalon, and they became very tired.

Your children faint; they lie at the head of every street like an antelope in a snare. They are left in a stupor by the Lord’s anger, by the battle cry of your God. ¹ 

If I send them home hungry, they will faint on the way, and some of them have come from a great distance.”

I said, “I will remember God while I groan; I will think about him while my strength leaves me.” ¹  (Selah)

Even youths get tired and weary; even strong young men clumsily stumble. ¹ 

Then I said, ¹  “There is no cure ²  for my grief! I am sick at heart!

Because of this, our hearts are sick; ¹  because of these things, we can hardly see ²  through our tears. ³ 

כ (Kaf) My eyes are worn out ¹  from weeping; ²  my stomach is in knots. ³  My heart ⁴  is poured out on the ground due to the destruction ⁵  of my helpless people; ⁶  children and infants faint in the town squares.

But those who wait for the Lord’s help ¹  find renewed strength; they rise up as if they had eagles’ wings, ²  they run without growing weary, they walk without getting tired.

ל (Lamed) Children ¹  say to their mothers, ²  “Where are food and drink?” ³  They faint ⁴  like a wounded warrior in the city squares. They die slowly ⁵  in their mothers’ arms. ⁶ 

I will fully satisfy the needs of those who are weary and fully refresh the souls of those who are faint. ¹ 

כ (Kaf) I desperately long for ¹  your deliverance. I find hope in your word.

My strength leaves me; ¹  I am absolutely shocked. ² 

Sustain ¹  me with raisin cakes, ²  refresh me with apples, ³  for I am faint with love. ⁴  The Double Refrain: Embracing and Adjuration

He gives strength to those who are tired; to the ones who lack power, he gives renewed energy.

Then someone from the army informed him, “Your father put the army under a strict oath ¹  saying, ‘Cursed be the man who eats food today!’ That is why the army is tired.”
