In excitement and impatience it consumes the ground; ¹  it cannot stand still ²  when the trumpet is blown.

Sheol ¹  below is stirred up about you, ready to meet you when you arrive. It rouses ²  the spirits of the dead for you, all the former leaders of the earth; ³  it makes all the former kings of the nations rise from their thrones. ⁴ 

So he came down quickly ¹  and welcomed Jesus ²  joyfully. ³ 

So the two of them ¹  journeyed together until they arrived in Bethlehem. ² When they entered ³  Bethlehem, ⁴  the whole village was excited about their arrival. ⁵  The women of the village said, ⁶  “Can this be Naomi?” ⁷ 

not to be easily ¹  shaken from your composure or disturbed by any kind of spirit or message or letter allegedly from us, ²  to the effect that the day of the Lord is already here.

If ¹  I have rejoiced over the misfortune of my enemy ²  or exulted ³  because calamity ⁴  found him –

For the sovereign Lord ¹  is awe-inspiring; ²  he is the great king who rules the whole earth! ³ 

My lover thrust his hand ¹  through ²  the hole, ³  and my feelings ⁴  were stirred ⁵  for him.

As he entered Jerusalem the whole city was thrown into an uproar, ¹  saying, “Who is this?”

So ¹  do not be overly concerned about ²  what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not worry about such things. ³ 

Therefore, since we have such a hope, we behave with great boldness, ¹ 

Then he sent his brothers on their way and they left. He said to them, “As you travel don’t be overcome with fear.” ¹ 

When ¹  Aaron saw this, ²  he built an altar before it, ³  and Aaron made a proclamation ⁴  and said, “Tomorrow will be a feast ⁵  to the Lord.”

At the sound of the trumpet, it says, ‘Aha!’ And from a distance it catches the scent of battle, the thunderous shouting of commanders, and the battle cries.

Is there anything about which someone can say, “Look at this! It is new!”? ¹  It was already ²  done long ago, ³  before our time. ⁴ 

There is no end to all the people ¹  nor to the past generations, ²  yet future generations ³  will not rejoice in him. This also is profitless and like ⁴  chasing the wind.

So remember ¹  your Creator in the days of your youth – before ²  the difficult ³  days come, and the years draw near when you will say, “I have no pleasure in them”;

The Beloved to the Maidens: I adjure you, ¹  O maidens of Jerusalem, by the gazelles and by the young does ²  of the open fields: ³  Do not awaken or arouse ⁴  love ⁵  until it pleases! ⁶ 

The Adjuration Refrain The Beloved to the Maidens: ¹ I admonish you, O maidens of Jerusalem, by the gazelles and by the young does of the open fields: “Do not awake or arouse love until it pleases!”

All of them are skilled with a sword, ¹  well-trained in the art of warfare. ²  Each has his sword at his side, to guard against the terrors of the night.
