For just as through the disobedience of the one man ¹  many ²  were made sinners, so also through the obedience of one man ³  many ⁴  will be made righteous.

The Lord God planted an orchard ¹  in the east, ²  in Eden; ³  and there he placed the man he had formed. ⁴ 

If there is an angel beside him, one mediator ¹  out of a thousand, to tell a person what constitutes his uprightness; ² 

who has become a priest not by a legal regulation about physical descent ¹  but by the power of an indestructible life.

“Son of man, sing ¹  a lament for the king of Tyre, and say to him, ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: “‘You were the sealer ²  of perfection, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.

(for rulers cause no fear for good conduct but for bad). Do you desire not to fear authority? Do good and you will receive its commendation,

Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you not competent to settle trivial suits?

For the hidden power of lawlessness ¹  is already at work. However, the one who holds him back ²  will do so until he is taken out of the way,

Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers and sisters, ¹  because you know that we will be judged more strictly. ² 

Elijah was a human being ¹  like us, and he prayed earnestly ²  that it would not rain and there was no rain on the land for three years and six months!

This is the list of David’s warriors: ¹  Jashobeam, a Hacmonite, was head of the officers. ²  He killed three hundred men with his spear in a single battle. ³
