From that time Jesus began to preach this message: ¹  “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”

“Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they don’t wash their ¹  hands when they eat.” ² 

In the wilderness ¹  John the baptizer ²  began preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. ³ 

For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels ¹  in heaven.

He ¹  went into all the region around the Jordan River, ²  preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. ³ 

When ¹  they had done this, they caught so many fish that their nets started to tear. ² 

I have not come ¹  to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” ²

Your perpetual ruins will be rebuilt; ¹  you will reestablish the ancient foundations. You will be called, ‘The one who repairs broken walls, the one who makes the streets inhabitable again.’ ²
