Messengers ¹  told David what had happened, ²  so he summoned them, for the men were thoroughly humiliated. The king said, “Stay in Jericho ³  until your beards have grown again; then you may come back.”

Messengers ¹  arrived and reported to Jehoshaphat, “A huge army is attacking you from the other side of the Dead Sea, ²  from the direction of Edom. ³  Look, they are in Hazezon Tamar (that is, En Gedi).”

While this one was still speaking another messenger arrived and said, “The Chaldeans ¹  formed three bands and made a raid ²  on the camels and carried them all away, and they killed the servants with the sword! ³  And I – only I alone – escaped to tell you!”

Though his ¹  officials are in Zoan and his messengers arrive at Hanes, ² 

They ¹  laid hands on ²  the apostles and put them in a public jail.

For to me, living is Christ and dying is gain.

From Paul, ¹  an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,

For this gospel ¹  I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher. ²

The Lord’s messenger did not appear again to Manoah and his wife. After all this happened Manoah realized that the visitor had been the Lord’s messenger. ¹ 

The tribes of Israel sent men throughout the tribe ¹  of Benjamin, saying, “How could such a wicked thing take place? ² 

When Eli heard the outcry, ¹  he said, “What is this commotion?” ²  The man quickly came and told Eli.

At that time Merodach-Baladan son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a gift to Hezekiah, for he heard that Hezekiah had been ill and had recovered.

While I was watching in my mind’s visions ¹  on my bed, a holy sentinel ²  came down from heaven.

Then I asked one nearby, “What are these, sir?” The angelic messenger ¹  who replied to me said, “I will show you what these are.”

So I asked the angelic messenger ¹  who spoke with me, “What are these?” He replied, “These are the horns ²  that have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.” ³ 

After this the angelic messenger ¹  who had been speaking to me went out and said, “Look, see what is leaving.”

nor do you have his word residing in you, because you do not believe the one whom he sent.

I tell you the solemn truth, ¹  whoever accepts ²  the one I send accepts me, and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me.” ³
