Although its roots may grow old ¹  in the ground and its stump begins to die ²  in the soil, ³ 

But as ¹  a mountain falls away and crumbles, ²  and as a rock will be removed from its place,

As for me, I know that my Redeemer ¹  lives, and that as the last ²  he will stand upon the earth. ³ 

But as soon as she springs up, ¹  she laughs at the horse and its rider.

May they be ¹  like wind-driven chaff, as the Lord’s angel ²  attacks them! ³ 

Their life’s breath departs, they return to the ground; on that day their plans die. ¹ 

He sends the snow that is white like wool; he spreads the frost that is white like ashes. ¹ 

Proud men will be humiliated, arrogant men will be brought low; ¹  the Lord alone will be exalted ²  in that day.

Men will be humiliated, they will be brought low; the proud will be brought low. ¹ 

Here is a message about Damascus: “Look, Damascus is no longer a city, it is a heap of ruins!

along with the plants by the mouth of the river. ¹  All the cultivated land near the river will turn to dust and be blown away. ² 

The crown has fallen from our head; woe to us, for we have sinned!

So I turned my attention ¹  to the Lord God ²  to implore him by prayer and requests, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes. ³ 

ש (Sin/Shin) The young boys and old men lie dead on the ground in the streets. My young women ¹  and my young men have fallen by the sword. You killed them when you were angry; ²  you slaughtered them without mercy. ³ 

When they opposed him ¹  and reviled him, ²  he protested by shaking out his clothes ³  and said to them, “Your blood ⁴  be on your own heads! I am guiltless! ⁵  From now on I will go to the Gentiles!”

and in the presence of his colleagues ¹  and the army of Samaria ²  he said, “What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they be left to themselves? ³  Will they again offer sacrifice? Will they finish this in a day? Can they bring these burnt stones to life again from piles of dust?”

So in this way Jacob’s sin will be forgiven, ¹  and this is how they will show they are finished sinning: ²  They will make all the stones of the altars ³  like crushed limestone, and the Asherah poles and the incense altars will no longer stand. ⁴ 

For this reason no watered trees will grow so tall; their tops will not reach into the clouds, nor will the well-watered ones grow that high. ¹  For all of them have been appointed to die in the lower parts of the earth; ²  they will be among mere mortals, ³  with those who descend to the pit.

¹ Then the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Take handfuls of soot ²  from a furnace, and have Moses throw it ³  into the air while Pharaoh is watching. ⁴ 

So they took soot from a furnace and stood before Pharaoh, Moses threw it into the air, and it caused festering boils to break out on both people and animals.
