This is what the Lord says: “Because Judah has committed three covenant transgressions ¹  – make that four! ²  – I will not revoke my decree of judgment. ³  They rejected the Lord’s law; ⁴  they did not obey his commands. Their false gods, ⁵  to which their fathers were loyal, ⁶  led them astray.

He led ¹  Israel for twenty-three years, then died and was buried in Shamir.

Jair the Gileadite rose up after him; he led Israel for twenty-two years.

Jephthah led ¹  Israel for six years; then he ²  died and was buried in his city in Gilead. ³ 

After him Elon the Zebulunite led ¹  Israel for ten years. ² 

Naaman, Ahijah, and Gera, who moved them. Gera ¹  was the father of Uzzah and Ahihud.

Elihu, a brother of David, led Judah, Omri son of Michael led Issachar,

Hoshea son of Azaziah led the Ephraimites, Joel son of Pedaiah led the half-tribe of Manasseh,

Iddo son of Zechariah led the half-tribe of Manasseh in Gilead, Jaasiel son of Abner led Benjamin,

that the evil man is spared from the day of his misfortune, that he is delivered ¹  from the day of God’s wrath?

You walked through the sea; ¹  you passed through the surging waters, ²  but left no footprints. ³ 

When he led his people out, they rejoiced; his chosen ones shouted with joy. ¹ 

The sailors ¹  rejoiced because the waves ²  grew quiet, and he led them to the harbor ³  they desired.

He will die because ¹  there was no discipline; because of the greatness of his folly ²  he will reel. ³ 

The nations heard about him; he was trapped in their pit. They brought him with hooks to the land of Egypt. ¹ 

Yet it was I who led ¹  Ephraim, I took them by the arm; but they did not acknowledge that I had healed them. ² 

The Lord brought Israel out of Egypt by a prophet, and due to a prophet ¹  Israel ²  was preserved alive. ³ 

But during the night an angel of the Lord ¹  opened ²  the doors of the prison, ³  led them out, ⁴  and said,

They said to him, “We promise! ¹  We will only take you prisoner and hand you over to them. We promise not to kill you.” They tied him up with two brand new ropes and led him up from the cliff.

and his colleagues – Shemaiah, Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, Judah, and Hanani – with musical instruments of ¹  David the man of God. (Ezra the scribe led them.) ²
