and if all your armed men cross the Jordan before the Lord until he drives out his enemies from his presence

But the Lord told me: “Tell them this: ‘Do not go up and fight, because I will not be with you and you will be defeated by your enemies.’”

for the Lord your God goes with you to fight on your behalf against your enemies to give you victory.” ¹ 

When you go out to do battle with your enemies and the Lord your God allows you to prevail ¹  and you take prisoners,

The Lord will cause your enemies who attack ¹  you to be struck down before you; they will attack you from one direction ²  but flee from you in seven different directions.
