Am I the sea, or the creature of the deep, ¹  that you must put ²  me under guard? ³ 

He will not look on the streams, ¹  the rivers, which are the torrents ²  of honey and butter. ³ 

the chief men refrained from talking and covered their mouths with their hands;

the voices of the nobles fell silent, ¹  and their tongues stuck to the roof of their mouths.

“People ¹  listened to me and waited silently; ²  they kept silent for my advice.

Pay attention, Job – listen to me; be silent, and I will speak.

If not, you listen to me; be silent, and I will teach you wisdom.”

From heaven you announced what their punishment would be. ¹  The earth ²  was afraid and silent

to the accompaniment of a ten-stringed instrument and a lyre, to the accompaniment of the meditative tone of the harp.

He calmed the storm, ¹  and the waves ²  grew silent.

When pride ¹  comes, ²  then comes disgrace, ³  but with humility ⁴  comes ⁵  wisdom.

With pride ¹  comes only ²  contention, but wisdom is with the well-advised. ³ 

Then ¹  he warned them not to tell anyone about him. ² 

But he forcefully commanded ¹  them not to tell this to anyone, ² 

Rejoice in hope, endure in suffering, persist in prayer.

He built fortified cities throughout Judah, for the land was at rest and there was no war during those years; the Lord gave him peace.

So now ¹  my heart ²  will sing to you and not be silent; O Lord my God, I will always ³  give thanks to you.

Wait patiently for the Lord! ¹  Wait confidently ²  for him! Do not fret over the apparent success of a sinner, ³  a man who carries out wicked schemes!

Even a fool who remains silent is considered ¹  wise, and the one who holds his tongue is deemed discerning. ² 

“Shout loudly! Don’t be quiet! Yell as loud as a trumpet! Confront my people with their rebellious deeds; ¹  confront Jacob’s family with their sin! ²
