But he ¹  left behind some of the poor of the land and gave them fields and vineyards.

Yes, ¹  in your eyes a thousand years are like yesterday that quickly passes, or like one of the divisions of the nighttime. ² 

The truly wise person ¹  restrains ²  his words, and the one who stays calm ³  is discerning.

For you know in your own heart ¹  that you also have cursed others many times.

I will make human beings more scarce than pure gold, and people more scarce ¹  than gold from Ophir.

For if only in this life we have hope in Christ, we should be pitied more than anyone.

Thus we are full of courage and would prefer to be away ¹  from the body and at home with the Lord.
