You heard ¹  my plea: ²  “Do not close your ears to my cry for relief!” ³ 

Then Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and gave up his spirit.

The Beloved to Her Lover: Until the dawn arrives ¹  and the shadows flee, turn, ²  my beloved – be like a gazelle or a young stag on the mountain gorges. ³ 

ק (Qof) I called for my lovers, ¹  but they had deceived me. My priests and my elders perished in the city. Truly they had ²  searched for food to ³  keep themselves ⁴  alive. ⁵ 

I will pour out my anger on you; the fire of my fury I will blow on you. I will hand you over to brutal men, who are skilled in destruction.

When Ananias heard these words he collapsed and died, and great fear gripped ¹  all who heard about it.

In the west, people respect ¹  the Lord’s reputation; ²  in the east they recognize his splendor. ³  For he comes like a rushing ⁴  stream driven on by wind sent from the Lord. ⁵ 

At once ¹  she collapsed at his feet and died. So when the young men came in, they found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband.

For I am full of words, and the spirit within me ¹  constrains me. ² 

He ¹  draws near to the place of corruption, and his life to the messengers of death. ² 

But if they refuse to listen, they pass over the river of death, ¹  and expire without knowledge.

At this also my heart pounds and leaps from its place.

Indeed, ¹  you are ²  my shelter, a strong tower that protects me from the enemy. ³ 

From heaven you announced what their punishment would be. ¹  The earth ²  was afraid and silent

Cover ¹  their faces with shame, so they might seek ²  you, ³  O Lord.

Instead, you have exalted yourself against the Lord of heaven. You brought before you the vessels from his temple, and you and your nobles, together with your wives and concubines, drank wine from them. You praised the gods of silver, gold, bronze, iron, wood, and stone – gods ¹  that cannot see or hear or comprehend! But you have not glorified the God who has in his control ²  your very breath and all your ways!

For this reason whoever is smart ¹  keeps quiet ²  in such a time, for it is an evil ³  time.

Then ¹  he warned them not to tell anyone about him. ² 

Bless those who persecute you, bless and do not curse.

By the blast of your nostrils ¹  the waters were piled up, the flowing water stood upright like a heap, ²  and the deep waters were solidified in the heart of the sea.
