Philip found Nathanael ¹  and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the law, and the prophets also ²  wrote about – Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

They said to the woman, “No longer do we believe because of your words, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this one ¹  really is the Savior of the world.” ² 

Then the Jewish leaders ¹  were astonished ²  and said, “How does this man know so much when he has never had formal instruction?” ³ 

“We are descendants ¹  of Abraham,” they replied, ²  “and have never been anyone’s slaves! How can you say, ³  ‘You will become free’?”

Thus the Pharisees ¹  said to one another, “You see that you can do nothing. Look, the world has run off after him!”

if ¹  we are being examined ²  today for a good deed ³  done to a sick man – by what means this man was healed ⁴  –

So they took Paul and ¹  brought him to the Areopagus, ²  saying, “May we know what this new teaching is that you are proclaiming?

They ¹  went ²  to the chief priests ³  and the elders and said, “We have bound ourselves with a solemn oath ⁴  not to partake ⁵  of anything until we have killed Paul.

For we have found ¹  this man to be a troublemaker, ²  one who stirs up riots ³  among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader ⁴  of the sect of the Nazarenes. ⁵ 

But when the Jews objected, ¹  I was forced to appeal to Caesar ²  – not that I had some charge to bring ³  against my own people. ⁴ 

And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is futile and your faith is empty.

And just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, let us also bear ¹  the image of the man of heaven.

We are experiencing trouble on every side, ¹  but are not crushed; we are perplexed, ²  but not driven to despair;

For in this earthly house ¹  we groan, because we desire to put on ²  our heavenly dwelling,

Make room for us in your hearts; ¹  we have wronged no one, we have ruined no one, ²  we have exploited no one. ³ 

If there is any question ¹  about Titus, he is my partner and fellow worker among you; if there is any question about our brothers, they are messengers ²  of the churches, a glory to Christ.

But you know his qualifications, that like a son working with his father, he served with me in advancing the gospel.

but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we declare it, not to please people but God, who examines our hearts.

Now when ¹  they are saying, “There is peace and security,” ²  then sudden destruction comes on them, like labor pains ³  on a pregnant woman, and they will surely not escape.

and to you who are being afflicted to give rest together with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed ¹  from heaven with his mighty angels. ²
