The Lord demonstrates his power to deliver; ¹  in the sight of the nations he reveals his justice.

The appetite ¹  of the wicked desires ²  evil; his neighbor is shown no favor ³  in his eyes.

Though his ¹  hatred may be concealed ²  by deceit, his evil will be uncovered ³  in the assembly.

Even the soldiers ¹  from Memphis and Tahpanhes have cracked your skulls, people of Israel. ² 

Then you will call ¹  your ²  brother, “My People” (Ammi)! You will call your sister, “Pity” (Ruhamah)!

Should you not have shown mercy to your fellow slave, just as I showed it to you?’

He has done this ¹  to show mercy ²  to our ancestors, ³  and to remember his holy covenant ⁴  –

while others were saying that Elijah ¹  had appeared, and still others that one of the prophets of long ago had risen. ² 

This was now the third time Jesus was revealed to the disciples after he was raised from the dead.

and here he has authority from the chief priests to imprison ¹  all who call on your name!” ² 

But the rich person’s pride should be in his humiliation, because he will pass away like a wildflower in the meadow. ¹ 

If so, have you not made distinctions ¹  among yourselves and become judges with evil motives? ² 

Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, “Listen to me! Each of you should return to your mother’s home! ¹  May the Lord show ²  you ³  the same kind of devotion that you have shown to your deceased husbands ⁴  and to me! ⁵ 

He said, “May you be rewarded ¹  by the Lord, my dear! ²  This act of devotion ³  is greater than what you did before. ⁴  For you have not sought to marry ⁵  one of the young men, whether rich or poor. ⁶ 

Who knows if he will be a wise man or a fool? Yet ¹  he will be master over all the fruit of ²  my labor ³  for which I worked so wisely ⁴  on earth! ⁵  This also is futile!

I have received a distressing message: ¹  “The deceiver deceives, the destroyer destroys. Attack, you Elamites! Lay siege, you Medes! I will put an end to all the groaning!” ² 

When you see this, you will be happy, ¹  and you will be revived. ²  The Lord will reveal his power to his servants and his anger to his enemies. ³ 

However, there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries, ¹  and he has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in the times to come. ²  The dream and the visions you had while lying on your bed ³  are as follows.

“I have shown love to you,” says the Lord, but you say, “How have you shown love to us?” “Esau was Jacob’s brother,” the Lord explains, “yet I chose Jacob

Absolutely not! Let God be proven true, and every human being ¹  shown up as a liar, ²  just as it is written: “so that you will be justified ³  in your words and will prevail when you are judged.” ⁴
