Terrify them, Lord! ¹  Let the nations know they are mere mortals! ²  (Selah)

The rules you set down ¹  are completely reliable. ²  Holiness ³  aptly adorns your house, O Lord, forever. ⁴ 

A king’s wrath is like ¹  the roar of a lion, ²  but his favor is like dew on the grass. ³ 

Like snow in summer or rain in harvest, so honor ¹  is not fitting for a fool. ² 

The words of a gossip are like delicious morsels; they go down into a person’s innermost being. ¹ 

Beware ¹  of people, because they will hand you over to councils ²  and flog ³  you in their synagogues. ⁴ 

The Pharisees ¹  (who loved money) heard all this and ridiculed ²  him.

Now a dispute came about between some of John’s disciples and a certain Jew ¹  concerning ceremonial washing. ² 

When ¹  I returned to Jerusalem and was praying in the temple, I fell into a trance ² 

For the outlook ¹  of the flesh is death, but the outlook of the Spirit is life and peace,

For the creation was subjected to futility – not willingly but because of God ¹  who subjected it – in hope

that the creation itself will also be set free from the bondage of decay into the glorious freedom of God’s children.

This means ¹  it is not the children of the flesh ²  who are the children of God; rather, the children of promise are counted as descendants.

Judge for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered?

Therefore, brothers and sisters, ¹  we are not children of the slave woman but of the free woman.

For ¹  neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for ²  anything; the only thing that matters is a new creation! ³ 

¹ who though he existed in the form of God ²  did not regard equality with God as something to be grasped,

For there is no one here like him who will readily demonstrate his deep concern for you. ¹ 

For surely his concern is not for angels, but he is concerned for Abraham’s descendants.

in that he spends the rest of his time ¹  on earth concerned about the will of God and not human desires.
