But it is a spirit in people, the breath ¹  of the Almighty, that makes them understand.

Therefore no fear of me should terrify you, nor should my pressure ¹  be heavy on you. ² 

Now in this, you are not right – I answer you, ¹  for God is greater than a human being. ² 

In a dream, a night vision, when deep sleep falls on people as they sleep in their beds.

“Indeed, God does all these things, twice, three times, in his dealings ²  with a person,

For his eyes are on the ways of an individual, he observes all a person’s ¹  steps.

For he does not still consider a person, ¹  that he should come before God in judgment.

Therefore people fear him, for he does not regard all the wise in heart.” ¹ 

Terrify them, Lord! ¹  Let the nations know they are mere mortals! ²  (Selah)

You defend ¹  the fatherless and oppressed, ²  so that mere mortals may no longer terrorize them. ³ 

but, despite their wealth, people do not last, ¹  they are like animals ²  that perish. ³ 

Wealthy people do not understand; ¹  they are like animals ²  that perish. ³ 

Man ate the food of the mighty ones. ¹  He sent them more than enough to eat. ² 

He remembered ¹  that they were made of flesh, and were like a wind that blows past and does not return. ² 

He abandoned ¹  the sanctuary at Shiloh, the tent where he lived among men.

You make mankind return ¹  to the dust, ²  and say, “Return, O people!”

So teach us to consider our mortality, ¹  so that we might live wisely. ² 

A person’s life is like grass. ¹  Like a flower in the field it flourishes,

What does a man acquire from all his labor and from the anxiety that accompanies his toil on earth? ¹ 

For there is a proper time and procedure for every matter, for the oppression ¹  of the king ²  is severe upon his victim. ³
