“‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: Because they are saying to you, “You are a devourer of men, and bereave your nation of children,”

therefore you will no longer devour people and no longer bereave your nation of children, declares the sovereign Lord.

Then King Belshazzar was very terrified, and he was visibly shaken. ¹  His nobles were completely dumbfounded.

For what does it benefit a person ¹  if he gains the whole world but forfeits his life? Or what can a person give in exchange for his life?

Now I say to you that whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another commits adultery.”

Now when the commander ¹  of the temple guard ²  and the chief priests heard this report, ³  they were greatly puzzled concerning it, ⁴  wondering what this could ⁵  be.
