“When that time comes, people will no longer say, ‘The parents have eaten sour grapes, but the children’s teeth have grown numb.’ ¹ 

Edom will be destroyed like Sodom and Gomorrah and the towns that were around them. No one will live there. No human being will settle in it,” says the Lord.

“Hazor will become a permanent wasteland, a place where only jackals live. ¹  No one will live there. No human being will settle in it.” ² 

I will destroy Babylonia just like I did Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighboring towns. No one will live there. ¹  No human being will settle in it,” says the Lord. ² 

The towns of Babylonia have become heaps of ruins. She has become a dry and barren desert. No one lives in those towns any more. No one even passes through them. ¹ 

“Suppose I were to send wild animals through the land and kill its children, leaving it desolate, without travelers due to the wild animals.

Then everyone will know that I am the Lord, who drew my sword from its sheath – it will not be sheathed again!’

It will be the most insignificant of the kingdoms; it will never again exalt itself over the nations. I will make them so small that they will not rule over the nations.

therefore you will no longer devour people and no longer bereave your nation of children, declares the sovereign Lord.

No one brings grain offerings or drink offerings to the temple ¹  of the Lord anymore. ²  So the priests, those who serve the Lord, are in mourning.

You are offering improper sacrifices on my altar, yet you ask, ‘How have we offended you?’ By treating the table ¹  of the Lord as if it is of no importance!

No one ¹  was able to answer him a word, and from that day on no one dared to question him any longer.

While he was still speaking, people came from the synagogue ruler’s ¹  house saying, “Your daughter has died. Why trouble the teacher any longer?”

While he was still speaking, someone from the synagogue ruler’s ¹  house came and said, “Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the teacher any longer.”

But Jesus said, ¹  “Enough of this!” And he touched the man’s ²  ear and healed ³  him.

After this Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, “Look, you have become well. Don’t sin any more, ¹  lest anything worse happen to you.”

In a little while you ¹  will see me no longer; again after a little while, you ²  will see me.” ³ 

Now we know that you know everything ¹  and do not need anyone ²  to ask you anything. ³  Because of this ⁴  we believe that you have come from God.”

So then, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; what is old has passed away ¹  – look, what is new ²  has come! ³ 

From now on let no one cause me trouble, for I bear the marks of Jesus on my body. ¹
