so many of the Jewish people of the region ¹  had come to Martha and Mary to console them ²  over the loss of their brother.) ³ 

and not for the Jewish nation ¹  only, ²  but to gather together ³  into one the children of God who are scattered.) ⁴ 

for on account of him many of the Jewish people from Jerusalem ¹  were going away and believing in Jesus.

Then they shouted back, ¹  “Not this man, ²  but Barabbas!” ³  (Now Barabbas was a revolutionary. ⁴ ) ⁵ 

(Now it was the day of preparation ¹  for the Passover, about noon. ² ) ³  Pilate ⁴  said to the Jewish leaders, ⁵  “Look, here is your king!”

When they heard these things, they became furious ¹  and ground their teeth ²  at him.

Now after some days had passed, the Jews plotted ¹  together to kill him,

But Peter said, “Certainly not, Lord, for I have never eaten anything defiled and ritually unclean!” ¹ 

But I said, ‘Certainly not, Lord, for nothing defiled or ritually unclean ¹  has ever entered my mouth!’

“Therefore I conclude ¹  that we should not cause extra difficulty ²  for those among the Gentiles ³  who are turning to God,

When ¹  they had brought them ²  before the magistrates, they said, “These men are throwing our city into confusion. ³  They are ⁴  Jews

Or these men here ¹  should tell what crime ²  they found me guilty of ³  when I stood before the council, ⁴ 

“Therefore be advised ¹  that this salvation from God ²  has been sent to the Gentiles; ³  they ⁴  will listen!” ⁵ 

But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law ¹  and boast of your relationship to God ² 

Where, then, is boasting? ¹  It is excluded! By what principle? ²  Of works? No, but by the principle of faith!

What then shall we say that Abraham, our ancestor according to the flesh, ¹  has discovered regarding this matter? ² 

Brothers and sisters, ¹  my heart’s desire and prayer to God on behalf of my fellow Israelites ²  is for their salvation.

Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Instead, keeping God’s commandments is what counts.

Yet ¹  not even Titus, who was with me, was compelled to be circumcised, although he was a Greek.

And the rest of the Jews also joined with him in this hypocrisy, so that even Barnabas was led astray with them ¹  by their hypocrisy.
