I was very upset, and I threw all of Tobiah’s household possessions out of the storeroom.

For ¹  he ²  wounds, ³  but he also bandages; he strikes, but his hands also heal.

Then he angrily speaks to them and terrifies them in his rage, ¹  saying, ² 

I am absolutely terrified, ¹  and you, Lord – how long will this continue? ² 

Yet you have battered us, leaving us a heap of ruins overrun by wild dogs; ¹  you have covered us with darkness. ² 

My heart beats violently ¹  within me; the horrors of death overcome me. ² 

I am suffering terribly. O Lord, revive me with your word! ¹ 

The one who puts up security for a stranger ¹  will surely have trouble, ²  but whoever avoids ³  shaking hands ⁴  will be secure.

Here is ¹  a misfortune ²  on earth ³  that I have seen: Wealth hoarded by its owner to his own misery.

So ¹  the sovereign master ²  will afflict the foreheads of Zion’s women ³  with skin diseases, ⁴  the Lord will make the front of their heads bald.” ⁵
