Obey ¹  with enthusiasm, as though serving the Lord ²  and not people,

though I am confident in the Lord that I too will be coming to see you ¹  soon.

Such women are always seeking instruction, ¹  yet never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth.

What if there are fifty godly people in the city? Will you really wipe it out and not spare ¹  the place for the sake of the fifty godly people who are in it?

Balak said to Balaam, “Did I not send again and again ¹  to you to summon you? Why did you not come to me? Am I not able to honor you?” ² 

Jephthah said to the leaders of Gilead, “All right! ¹  If you take me back to fight with the Ammonites and the Lord gives them to me, ²  I will be your leader.” ³ 

So the two of them ¹  journeyed together until they arrived in Bethlehem. ² When they entered ³  Bethlehem, ⁴  the whole village was excited about their arrival. ⁵  The women of the village said, ⁶  “Can this be Naomi?” ⁷ 

Tell them: ‘Hear this, you foolish people who have no understanding, who have eyes but do not discern, who have ears but do not perceive: ¹ 

For this reason I speak to them in parables: Although they see they do not see, and although they hear they do not hear nor do they understand.

But if we say, ‘From people – ’” (they feared the crowd, for they all considered John to be truly a prophet).

Look at my hands and my feet; it’s me! ¹  Touch me and see; a ghost ²  does not have flesh and bones like you see I have.”

They said to the woman, “No longer do we believe because of your words, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this one ¹  really is the Savior of the world.” ² 

Then Jesus said to those Judeans ¹  who had believed him, “If you continue to follow my teaching, ²  you are really ³  my disciples

Now the Jewish religious leaders ¹  refused to believe ²  that he had really been blind and had gained his sight until at last they summoned ³  the parents of the man who had become able to see. ⁴ 

If you have known me, you will know my Father too. ¹  And from now on you do know him and have seen him.”

When he arrived in Jerusalem, ¹  he attempted to associate ²  with the disciples, and they were all afraid of him, because they did not believe ³  that he was a disciple.

But I will come to you soon, if the Lord is willing, and I will find out not only the talk of these arrogant people, but also their power.

With regard then to eating food sacrificed to idols, we know that “an idol in this world is nothing,” and that “there is no God but one.” ¹ 

For we rejoice whenever we are weak, but you are strong. And we pray for this: that you may become fully qualified. ¹ 

For those who are circumcised do not obey the law themselves, but they want you to be circumcised so that they can boast about your flesh. ¹
