to give you thanks, ¹  and to tell about all your amazing deeds. ² 

How great are your works, O Lord! Your plans are very intricate! ¹ 

I will focus on your honor and majestic splendor, and your amazing deeds! ¹ 

When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue. ¹  Many who heard him were astonished, saying, “Where did he get these ideas? ²  And what is this wisdom that has been given to him? What are these miracles that are done through his hands?

For Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks ask for wisdom,

tasted the good word of God and the miracles of the coming age,

Now ¹  the beast was seized, and along with him the false prophet who had performed the signs on his behalf ²  – signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. Both of them were thrown alive into the lake of fire burning with sulfur. ³ 

The Lord said to Moses, “Pharaoh will not listen to you, so that my wonders ¹  may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.”

You did miracles and amazing deeds in the land of Egypt which have had lasting effect. By this means you gained both in Israel and among humankind a renown that lasts to this day. ¹ 

Then some of the experts in the law ¹  along with some Pharisees ²  answered him, ³  “Teacher, we want to see a sign ⁴  from you.”

For false messiahs ¹  and false prophets will appear and perform signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, the elect.

Jesus did this as the first of his miraculous signs, ¹  in Cana ²  of Galilee. In this way he revealed ³  his glory, and his disciples believed in him. ⁴ 

Now while Jesus ¹  was in Jerusalem ²  at the feast of the Passover, many people believed in his name because they saw the miraculous signs he was doing. ³ 

So Jesus said to him, “Unless you people ¹  see signs and wonders you will never believe!” ² 

Now when the people saw the miraculous sign that Jesus ¹  performed, they began to say to one another, “This is certainly the Prophet ²  who is to come into the world.” ³ 

Yet many of the crowd ¹  believed in him and said, “Whenever the Christ ²  comes, he won’t perform more miraculous signs than this man did, will he?” ³ 

So the chief priests and the Pharisees ¹  called the council ²  together and said, “What are we doing? For this man is performing many miraculous signs.

Although Jesus ¹  had performed ²  so many miraculous signs before them, they still refused to believe in him,

in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the Spirit of God. So from Jerusalem even as far as Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

He ¹  performed momentous signs, even making fire come down from heaven in front of people ²
