If you see the extortion ¹  of the poor, or the perversion ²  of justice and fairness in the government, ³  do not be astonished by the matter. For the high official is watched by a higher official, ⁴  and there are higher ones over them! ⁵ 

Then ¹  he said to them, “Where is your faith?” ²  But they were afraid and amazed, ³  saying to one another, “Who then is this? He commands even the winds and the water, ⁴  and they obey him!”

Now at that very moment his disciples came back. ¹  They were shocked ²  because he was speaking ³  with a woman. However, no one said, “What do you want?” ⁴  or “Why are you speaking with her?”

‘Look, you scoffers; be amazed and perish! ¹  For I am doing a work in your days, a work you would never believe, even if someone tells you.’” ²

Come! Witness the exploits ¹  of the Lord, who brings devastation to the earth! ² 

Many are appalled when they see me, ¹  but you are my secure shelter.

They executed his miraculous signs among them, ¹  and his amazing deeds in the land of Ham.

And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself ¹  as an angel of light.

If I lift myself up, ¹  you hunt me as a fierce lion, ²  and again ³  you display your power ⁴  against me.

When ¹  the crowd saw this, they were afraid ²  and honored God who had given such authority to men. ³ 

Pilate was surprised that he was already dead. He ¹  called the centurion and asked him if he had been dead for some time.

The man replied, ¹  “This is a remarkable thing, ²  that you don’t know where he comes from, and yet he caused me to see! ³ 

Now because we are fellow workers, we also urge you not to receive the grace of God in vain. ¹ 

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one ¹  who called you by the grace of Christ ²  and are following ³  a different ⁴  gospel –

I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of the saints and the blood of those who testified to Jesus. ¹  I ²  was greatly astounded ³  when I saw her.

So Moses thought, ¹  “I will turn aside to see ²  this amazing ³  sight. Why does the bush not burn up?” ⁴ 

Did you not pour ¹  me out like milk, and curdle ²  me like cheese? ³
