Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Say to your brothers, ‘Do this: Load your animals and go ¹  to the land of Canaan!

If anyone eats fat from the animal from which he presents a gift to the Lord, that person will be cut off from his people. ¹ 

All that walk on their paws among all the creatures that walk on all fours ¹  are unclean to you. Anyone who touches their carcass will be unclean until the evening,

This is the law ¹  of the land animals, the birds, all the living creatures that move in the water, and all the creatures ²  that swarm on the land,

You must not present to the Lord something with testicles that are bruised, crushed, torn, or cut off; ¹  you must not do this in your land.

Even from a foreigner ¹  you must not present the food of your God from such animals as these, for they are ruined and flawed; ²  they will not be acceptable for your benefit.’”

He produced manuals on botany, describing every kind of plant, ¹  from the cedars of Lebanon to the hyssop that grows on walls. He also produced manuals on biology, describing ²  animals, birds, insects, and fish.

and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for an image resembling mortal human beings ¹  or birds or four-footed animals ²  or reptiles.

All flesh is not the same: People have one flesh, animals have another, birds and fish another. ¹ 

But these men do not understand the things they slander, and they are being destroyed by the very things that, like irrational animals, they instinctively comprehend. ¹ 

If, however, ¹  it is among the unclean animals, he may ransom it according to ²  its conversion value and must add one fifth to it, but if it is not redeemed it must be sold according to its conversion value.

I got up during the night, along with a few men who were with me. But I did not tell anyone what my God was putting on my heart to do for Jerusalem. There were no animals with me, except for the one ¹  I was riding.

You will laugh at destruction and famine ¹  and need not ²  be afraid of the beasts of the earth.

They brayed ¹  like animals among the bushes and were huddled together ²  under the nettles.

He gives food to the animals, and to the young ravens when they chirp. ¹ 

For when you offer blind animals as a sacrifice, is that not wrong? And when you offer the lame and sick, ¹  is that not wrong as well? Indeed, try offering them ²  to your governor! Will he be pleased with you ³  or show you favor?” asks the Lord who rules over all.

If its owner was with it, he will not have to pay; if it was hired, what was paid for the hire covers it. ¹ 

to distinguish between the unclean and the clean, between the living creatures that may be eaten and the living creatures that must not be eaten.’”

I passed on to the Gate of the Well and the King’s Pool, where there was not enough room for my animal to pass with me.

but, despite their wealth, people do not last, ¹  they are like animals ²  that perish. ³
