You have allowed his adversaries to be victorious, ¹  and all his enemies to rejoice.

For the Lord is great and certainly worthy of praise; he is more awesome than all gods. ¹ 

The Lord’s deeds are great, eagerly awaited ¹  by all who desire them.

For her ¹  benefit ²  is more profitable ³  than silver, and her ⁴  gain ⁵  is better ⁶  than gold.

How much better it is to acquire ¹  wisdom than gold; to acquire understanding is more desirable ²  than silver.

She knows ¹  that her merchandise is good, and her lamp ²  does not go out in the night.

What benefit ¹  do people ²  get from all the effort which ³  they expend ⁴  on earth? ⁵ 

Fools ¹  are placed in many positions of authority, ²  while wealthy men sit in lowly positions.

Men bow down to them in homage, they lie flat on the ground in worship. ¹  Don’t spare them! ² 

Stop trusting in human beings, whose life’s breath is in their nostrils. For why should they be given special consideration?

“Son of man, prophesy and say, ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: “‘Wail, “Alas, the day is here!” ¹ 

And you will be hated by everyone because of my name. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

For the one who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by people. ¹ 

On behalf of such an individual I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, except about my weaknesses.

I fear for you that my work for you may have been in vain.

These are all destined to perish with use, founded as they are ¹  on human commands and teachings. ² 

I have competed well; ¹  I have finished the race; I have kept the faith!

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, being convinced of what we do not see.

Then I ¹  said to them, “If it seems good to you, pay me my wages, but if not, forget it.” So they weighed out my payment – thirty pieces of silver. ² 

Look at the birds in the sky: ¹  They do not sow, or reap, or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds ²  them. Aren’t you more valuable ³  than they are?
