The one who lacks wisdom ¹  strikes hands in pledge, ²  and puts up financial security ³  for his neighbor. ⁴ 

A foolish child is a grief ¹  to his father, and bitterness to the mother who bore him. ² 

The one who gives an answer ¹  before he listens ²  – that is his folly and his shame. ³ 

A person’s folly ¹  subverts ²  his way, and ³  his heart rages ⁴  against the Lord.

Do not answer a fool according to his folly, ¹  lest you yourself also be like him. ² 

I realized that wisdom is preferable to folly, ¹  just as light is preferable to darkness:

A wise person’s good sense protects him, ¹  but a fool’s lack of sense leaves him vulnerable. ² 

The toil of a stupid fool ¹  wears him out, ²  because he does not even know the way to the city. ³ 

Again the Lord said to me, “Take up once more the equipment of a foolish shepherd. ¹ 

Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup, ¹  so that the outside may become clean too!

Then one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said, ¹  “You know nothing at all!

Saul became angry with Jonathan ¹  and said to him, “You stupid traitor! ²  Don’t I realize that to your own disgrace and to the disgrace of your mother’s nakedness you have chosen this son of Jesse?

Your thinking is perverse! ¹  Should the potter be regarded as clay? ²  Should the thing made say ³  about its maker, “He didn’t make me”? Or should the pottery say about the potter, “He doesn’t understand”?

You didn’t even allow me to kiss my daughters and my grandchildren ¹  good-bye. You have acted foolishly!

And Balaam said to the donkey, “You have made me look stupid; I wish ¹  there were a sword in my hand, for I would kill you right now.”

How could I ever be rid of my humiliation? And you would be considered one of the fools ¹  in Israel! Just ²  speak to the king, for he will not withhold me from you.”

This happened because of all the sins which Baasha and his son Elah committed and which they made Israel commit. They angered the Lord God of Israel with their worthless idols. ¹ 

David said to God, “I have sinned greatly by doing this! Now, please remove the guilt of your servant, for I have acted very foolishly.”

The Lord looks down from heaven ¹  at the human race, ²  to see if there is anyone who is wise ³  and seeks God. ⁴ 

Moreover, keep me from committing flagrant ¹  sins; do not allow such sins to control me. ²  Then I will be blameless, and innocent of blatant ³  rebellion.
