The Philistines captured him and gouged out his eyes. They brought him down to Gaza and bound him in bronze chains. He became a grinder in the prison.

Say, ‘This is what the king says, “Put this man in prison. Give him only a little bread and water ¹  until I safely return.”’” ² 

Jehoiachin ¹  took off his prison clothes and ate daily in the king’s presence for the rest of his life.

Listen to the painful cries of the prisoners! ¹  Use your great strength to set free those condemned to die! ²

So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord ¹  or of me, a prisoner for his sake, but by ²  God’s power accept your share of suffering ³  for the gospel.

But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him kindness. ¹  He granted him favor in the sight of the prison warden. ² 

A man named Barabbas was imprisoned with rebels who had committed murder during an insurrection.

But the officers ¹  who came for them ²  did not find them in the prison, so they returned and reported, ³ 

Free me ¹  from prison, that I may give thanks to your name. Because of me the godly will assemble, ²  for you will vindicate me. ³
