“Son of man, say to the prince ¹  of Tyre, ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: “‘Your heart is proud ²  and you said, “I am a god; ³  I sit in the seat of gods, in the heart of the seas” – yet you are a man and not a god, though you think you are godlike. ⁴ 

¹ “Whoever strikes someone ²  so that he dies ³  must surely be put to death. ⁴ 

In the troubling thoughts ¹  of the dreams ²  in the night when a deep sleep ³  falls on men,

but people ¹  are born ²  to trouble, as surely as the sparks ³  fly ⁴  upward. ⁵ 

“Man, born of woman, ¹  lives but a few days, ²  and they are full of trouble. ³ 

all flesh would perish together and human beings would return to dust.

Remember to extol ¹  his work, which people have praised in song.

which the clouds pour down and shower on humankind abundantly.

I do not associate ¹  with deceitful men, or consort ²  with those who are dishonest. ³ 

It is better to take shelter ¹  in the Lord than to trust in people.

Treasures gained by wickedness ¹  do not profit, but righteousness ²  delivers from mortal danger. ³ 

Wealth does not profit in the day of wrath, ¹  but righteousness delivers from mortal danger. ² 

Therefore, prophesy against them! Prophesy, son of man!”

“Son of man, confront Jerusalem ¹  with her abominable practices

“Son of man, offer a riddle, ¹  and tell a parable to the house of Israel.

“Son of man, there were two women who were daughters of the same mother.

“You, son of man, sing a lament for Tyre. ¹ 

“Son of man, turn toward ¹  Sidon ²  and prophesy against it.

He replied, “What is impossible ¹  for mere humans ²  is possible for God.”

But the crowd ¹  began to shout, ²  “The voice of a god, ³  and not of a man!”
