or with any stone large enough that a man could die, without seeing him, and throws it at him, and he dies, even though he was not his enemy nor sought his harm,

Then Saul threw his spear at Jonathan ¹  in order to strike him down. So Jonathan was convinced ²  that his father had decided to kill David.

Now I intend ¹  to make a covenant with the Lord God of Israel, so that he may relent from his raging anger. ² 

¹ The Lord who commands armies makes this solemn vow: “Be sure of this: Just as I have intended, so it will be; just as I have planned, it will happen.

After this ¹  the Lord appointed seventy-two ²  others and sent them on ahead of him two by two into every town ³  and place where he himself was about to go.

Then Jesus, because he knew they were going to come and seize him by force to make him king, withdrew again up the mountainside alone. ¹ 

So Jesus said, “Leave her alone. She has kept it for the day of my burial. ¹ 

The former proclaim Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, because they think they can cause trouble for me in my imprisonment. ¹ 

But if my father intends to do you harm, may the Lord do all this and more to Jonathan, if I don’t let you know ¹  and send word to you so you can go safely on your way. ²  May the Lord be with you, as he was with my father.

King David rose to his feet and said: “Listen to me, my brothers and my people. I wanted to build a temple where the ark of the Lord’s covenant could be placed as a footstool for our God. ¹  I have made the preparations for building it.

Get up! Help the boy up and hold him by the hand, for I will make him into a great nation.”

Silently the man watched her with interest to determine ¹  if the Lord had made his journey successful ²  or not.

When Joshua dismissed ¹  the people, the Israelites went to their allotted portions of territory, ²  intending to take possession of the land.

Gideon said to God, “If you really intend to use me to deliver Israel, ¹  as you promised, then give me a sign as proof. ² 

So he ¹  said to her, “How often do you intend to get drunk? Put away your wine!”

He becomes the victim of his own destructive plans ¹  and the violence he intended for others falls on his own head. ² 

They attack me, now they surround me; ¹  they intend to throw me to the ground. ² 

Turn away from me, you evil men, so that I can observe ¹  the commands of my God. ² 

Like a fluttering bird or like a flying swallow, so a curse without cause ¹  does not come to rest. ² 

The Lord wanted to exhibit his justice by magnifying his law and displaying it. ¹
