Then they say, “The Lord does not see this; the God of Jacob does not take notice of it.” ¹ 

Take notice of this, ¹  you ignorant people! ²  You fools, when will you ever understand?

A servant ¹  cannot be corrected ²  by words, for although ³  he understands, there is no answer. ⁴ 

The words of the wise are heard in quiet, more than the shouting of a ruler is heard ¹  among fools.

Who among you will pay attention to this? Who will listen attentively in the future? ¹ 

They will eat, but not be satisfied; they will engage in prostitution, but not increase in numbers; because they have abandoned the Lord by pursuing other gods. ¹ 

“Watch out,” Jesus said to them, “beware of the yeast of the Pharisees ¹  and Sadducees.” ² 

And Jesus ¹  ordered them, ²  “Watch out! Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees ³  and the yeast of Herod!”

Jesus began to say to them, “Watch out ¹  that no one misleads you.

Every person ¹  who does not obey that prophet will be destroyed and thus removed ²  from the people.’ ³ 

Then he said to the council, ¹  “Men of Israel, ²  pay close attention to ³  what you are about to do to these men.

and not pay attention to Jewish myths ¹  and commands of people who reject the truth.

You must set boundaries ¹  for the people all around, saying, ‘Take heed ²  to yourselves not to go up on the mountain nor touch its edge. Whoever touches the mountain will surely be put to death!

Then Samuel said, “Does the Lord take pleasure in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as he does in obedience? ¹  Certainly, ²  obedience ³  is better than sacrifice; paying attention is better than ⁴  the fat of rams.

Tell him, ‘Make sure you stay calm! ¹  Don’t be afraid! Don’t be intimidated ²  by these two stubs of smoking logs, ³  or by the raging anger of Rezin, Syria, and the son of Remaliah.

For they have not paid attention to what I said to them through my servants the prophets whom I sent to them over and over again,’ ¹  says the Lord. ²  ‘And you exiles ³  have not paid any attention to them either,’ says the Lord. ⁴ 

“I hate divorce,” ¹  says the Lord God of Israel, “and the one who is guilty of violence,” ²  says the Lord who rules over all. “Pay attention to your conscience, and do not be unfaithful.”

All the men who assembled at the city gate ¹  agreed with ²  Hamor and his son Shechem. Every male who assembled at the city gate ³  was circumcised.

But Moses replied to ¹  the Lord, “If the Israelites did not listen to me, then ²  how will Pharaoh listen to me, since ³  I speak with difficulty?” ⁴ 

Be careful not to make ¹  a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, lest it become a snare ²  among you.
