especially those who indulge their fleshly desires ¹  and who despise authority. Brazen and insolent, ²  they are not afraid to insult ³  the glorious ones, ⁴ 

And this is the confidence that we have before him: that ¹  whenever ²  we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

In three days, when they were still in pain, two of Jacob’s sons, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, each took his sword ¹  and went to the unsuspecting city ²  and slaughtered every male.

I will speak ¹  about your regulations before kings and not be ashamed.

Toward the end of their rule, when rebellious acts ¹  are complete, a rash ²  and deceitful ³  king will arise. ⁴ 

Yet here he is, speaking publicly, ¹  and they are saying nothing to him. ²  Do the rulers really know that this man ³  is the Christ? ⁴ 

For the king knows about these things, and I am speaking freely ¹  to him, ²  because I cannot believe ³  that any of these things has escaped his notice, ⁴  for this was not done in a corner. ⁵ 

Then a spirit ¹  stepped forward and stood before the Lord. He said, ‘I will deceive him.’ The Lord asked him, ‘How?’

Then ¹  would I speak and not fear him, but it is not so with me. ² 

Will ¹  there be an end to your ²  windy words? ³  Or what provokes ⁴  you that you answer? ⁵ 

Surely then you will delight yourself ¹  in the Almighty, and will lift up your face toward God.

For it is pleasing if ¹  you keep these sayings ²  within you, and ³  they are ready on your lips. ⁴ 

“‘After all of your evil – “Woe! Woe to you!” declares the sovereign Lord –

you built yourself a chamber ¹  and put up a pavilion ²  in every public square.
