And people will settle there, and there will no longer be the threat of divine extermination – Jerusalem will dwell in security.

The slave does not remain in the family ¹  forever, but the son remains forever. ² 

Then ¹  I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate ²  to be with you forever –

except ¹  that the Holy Spirit warns ²  me in town after town ³  that ⁴  imprisonment ⁵  and persecutions ⁶  are waiting for me.

Everyone who has been fathered ¹  by God does not practice sin, ²  because ³  God’s ⁴  seed ⁵  resides in him, and thus ⁶  he is not able to sin, because he has been fathered by God.

For we are resident foreigners and nomads in your presence, like all our ancestors; ¹  our days are like a shadow on the earth, without security. ² 

May he reign ¹  forever before God! Decree that your loyal love and faithfulness should protect him. ² 

‘Do not fear, because I made a promise to your ancestors when they left Egypt, and my spirit ¹  even now testifies to you.’ ² 

Then Jesus said to those Judeans ¹  who had believed him, “If you continue to follow my teaching, ²  you are really ³  my disciples

I have written to you, children, that ¹  you have known the Father. ²  I have written to you, fathers, that ³  you have known him who has been from the beginning. I have written to you, young people, that ⁴  you are strong, and the word of God resides in you, and you have conquered the evil one.

The one who believes in the Son has eternal life. The one who rejects ¹  the Son will not see life, but God’s wrath ²  remains ³  on him.

For all who ¹  rely on doing the works of the law are under a curse, because it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not keep on doing everything written in the book of the law.” ² 

when they crouch in their dens, when they wait in ambush in the thicket?

For the upright will reside in the land, and those with integrity ¹  will remain in it,

(She is loud and rebellious, she ¹  does not remain ²  at home –

The person ¹  who hears the reproof that leads to life ²  is at home ³  among the wise. ⁴ 

The one who wanders ¹  from the way of wisdom ²  will end up ³  in the company of the departed. ⁴ 

“I have spoken these things while staying ¹  with you.

but it is more vital for your sake that I remain ¹  in the body. ² 

So the Lord said, “My spirit will not remain in ¹  humankind indefinitely, ²  since ³  they ⁴  are mortal. ⁵  They ⁶  will remain for 120 more years.” ⁷
