By God’s power we will conquer; ¹  he will trample down ²  our enemies.

Our Lord is great and has awesome power; ¹  there is no limit to his wisdom. ² 

Join with us! ¹  We will all share ²  equally in what we steal.” ³ 

So come on, let’s go ahead and attack it by night and destroy all its fortified buildings.’

They again replied, “Let the king inform us ¹  of the dream; then we will disclose its ²  interpretation.”

But if we say, ‘From people,’ we fear the crowd, for they all consider John to be a prophet.”

In ¹  reply all the people said, “Let his blood be on us and on our children!”

If ¹  this matter is heard before the governor, ²  we will satisfy him ³  and keep you out of trouble.” ⁴ 

Philip said, ¹  “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be content.” ² 

Thus we are full of courage and would prefer to be away ¹  from the body and at home with the Lord.

and that we may be delivered from perverse and evil people. For not all have faith.

This saying ¹  is trustworthy: ²  If we died with him, we will also live with him.

But we are not among those who shrink back and thus perish, but are among those who have faith and preserve their souls. ¹ 

And by this ¹  we will know that we are of the truth and will convince ²  our conscience ³  in his presence, ⁴ 

Then the Israelites said to him, “We will go along the highway, and if we ¹  or our cattle drink any of your water, we will pay for it. We will only pass through on our feet, without doing anything else.”

but we will maintain ourselves in armed readiness ¹  and go before the Israelites until whenever we have brought them to their place. Our descendants will be living in fortified towns as a protection against ²  the inhabitants of the land.

You go near so that you can hear everything the Lord our God is saying and then you can tell us whatever he ¹  says to you; then we will pay attention and do it.”

The men of Judah said to their relatives, the men of Simeon, ¹  “Invade our allotted land with us and help us attack the Canaanites. ²  Then we ³  will go with you into your allotted land.” So the men of Simeon went with them.

They replied, “We will return these things, ¹  and we will no longer demand anything from them. We will do just as you say.” Then I called the priests and made the wealthy and the officials ²  swear to do what had been promised. ³ 

You say, ‘No, we will flee on horses,’ so you will indeed flee. You say, ‘We will ride on fast horses,’ so your pursuers will be fast.
