He said to them, “Listen, ¹  when you have entered the city, a man carrying a jar of water ²  will meet you. ³  Follow him into the house that he enters,

But Peter said, “Man, I don’t know what you’re talking about!” At that moment, ¹  while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed. ² 

This is the one about whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who is greater than I am, ¹  because he existed before me.’

Then Jesus, when he looked up ¹  and saw that a large crowd was coming to him, said to Philip, “Where can we buy bread so that these people may eat?”

Then the neighbors and the people who had seen him previously ¹  as a beggar began saying, ²  “Is this not the man ³  who used to sit and beg?”

If we allow him to go on in this way, ¹  everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away our sanctuary ²  and our nation.”

When ¹  Judas ²  had gone out, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in him.

“I have told you these things in obscure figures of speech; ¹  a time ²  is coming when I will no longer speak to you in obscure figures, but will tell you ³  plainly ⁴  about the Father.

When Ananias heard these words he collapsed and died, and great fear gripped ¹  all who heard about it.

So in this case I say to you, stay away from these men and leave them alone, because if this plan or this undertaking originates with people, ¹  it will come to nothing, ² 

Because Lydda ¹  was near Joppa, when the disciples heard that Peter was there, they sent two men to him and urged him, “Come to us without delay.” ² 

Now the apostles and the brothers who were throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles too had accepted ¹  the word of God. ² 

The Spirit told me to accompany them without hesitation. These six brothers ¹  also went with me, and we entered the man’s house.

When Peter ¹  realized this, he went to the house of Mary, the mother of John Mark, ²  where many people had gathered together and were praying.

but Paul insisted ¹  that they should not take along this one who had left them in Pamphylia ²  and had not accompanied them in the work.

The brothers sent Paul and Silas off to Berea ¹  at once, during the night. When they arrived, ²  they went to the Jewish synagogue. ³ 

This became known to all who lived in Ephesus, ¹  both Jews and Greeks; fear came over ²  them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was praised. ³ 

But when they recognized ¹  that he was a Jew, they all shouted in unison, ²  “Great is Artemis ³  of the Ephesians!” for about two hours. ⁴ 

We ¹  sailed away from Philippi ²  after the days of Unleavened Bread, ³  and within five days ⁴  we came to the others ⁵  in Troas, ⁶  where we stayed for seven days.
