They acted like fools in their rebellious ways, ¹  and suffered because of their sins.

who delight ¹  in doing ²  evil, ³  they rejoice in perverse evil; ⁴ 

The household ¹  of the wicked will be destroyed, but the tent ²  of the upright will flourish.

Better to have a little with righteousness ¹  than to have abundant income without justice. ² 

When the wicked increase, ¹  transgression increases, but the righteous will see ²  their downfall.

They feed on the sin offerings of my people; their appetites long for their iniquity!

and because lawlessness will increase so much, the love of many will grow cold.

And although you were ¹  dead ²  in your transgressions and sins,

“For I will be merciful toward their evil deeds, and their sins I will remember no longer.” ¹ 

A single witness may not testify ¹  against another person for any trespass or sin that he commits. A matter may be legally established ²  only on the testimony of two or three witnesses.

From the city the dying ¹  groan, and the wounded ²  cry out for help, but God charges no one with wrongdoing. ³ 

For you are aware of our many rebellious deeds, ¹  and our sins testify against us; indeed, we are aware of our rebellious deeds; we know our sins all too well. ² 

For I, the Lord, love justice and hate robbery and sin. I will repay them because of my faithfulness; ¹  I will make a permanent covenant with them.

When a righteous person turns back from his righteousness and practices wrongdoing, he will die for it; ¹  because of the wrongdoing he has done, he will die.

All this is because of Jacob’s rebellion and ¹  the sins of the nation ²  of Israel. How has Jacob rebelled, you ask? ³  Samaria epitomizes their rebellion! ⁴  Where are Judah’s pagan worship centers, you ask? ⁵  They are right in Jerusalem! ⁶ 

Why do you force me to witness injustice? ¹  Why do you put up with wrongdoing? ²  Destruction and violence confront ³  me; conflict is present and one must endure strife. ⁴ 

suffering harm as the wages for their harmful ways. ¹  By considering it a pleasure to carouse in broad daylight, ²  they are stains and blemishes, indulging ³  in their deceitful pleasures when they feast together with you.

By forsaking the right path they have gone astray, because they followed the way of Balaam son of Bosor, ¹  who loved the wages of unrighteousness, ² 

yet was rebuked ¹  for his own transgression (a dumb donkey, ²  speaking with a human voice, ³  restrained the prophet’s madness). ⁴ 

when an individual becomes guilty with regard to one of these things ¹  he must confess how he has sinned, ²
