But I do not consider my life ¹  worth anything ²  to myself, so that ³  I may finish my task ⁴  and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the good news ⁵  of God’s grace.

Ahab said to Naboth, “Give me your vineyard so I can make a vegetable garden out of it, for it is adjacent to my palace. I will give you an even better vineyard in its place, or if you prefer, ¹  I will pay you silver for it.” ² 

for they will provide ¹  a long and full life, ²  and they will add well-being ³  to you.

Faithful ¹  are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses ²  of an enemy are excessive. ³ 

They are worthless, mere objects to be mocked. ¹  When the time comes to punish them, they will be destroyed.

What can a person give in exchange for his life?

Now an argument started among the disciples ¹  as to which of them might be ²  the greatest.

They will say, ¹  ‘This man ²  began to build and was not able to finish!’ ³ 

“If I testify about myself, my testimony is not true.

the priest will calculate for him the amount of its conversion value until the jubilee year, and he must pay ¹  the conversion value on that jubilee day as something that is holy to the Lord.

That person sings ¹  to others, ²  saying: ‘I have sinned and falsified what is right, but I was not punished according to what I deserved. ³ 

And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God, ¹  God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what should not be done. ² 

So turn and leave ¹  in peace. You must not do anything that the leaders of the Philistines consider improper!” ² 

For the Lord is great and certainly worthy of praise, he is more awesome than ¹  all gods.

Yet all of this fails to satisfy me so long as I have to see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king’s gate.”

He frustrates ¹  the plans ²  of the crafty ³  so that ⁴  their hands cannot accomplish what they had planned! ⁵ 

and throw ¹  your gold ²  in the dust – your gold ³  of Ophir among the rocks in the ravines –

Neither gold nor crystal ¹  can be compared with it, nor can a vase ²  of gold match its worth.

People lie to one another; ¹  they flatter and deceive. ² 

Then ¹  observers ²  will say, “Yes indeed, the godly are rewarded! ³  Yes indeed, there is a God who judges ⁴  in the earth!”
