May the Lord cut off ¹  all flattering lips, and the tongue that boasts! ² 

Your tongue carries out your destructive plans; ¹  it is as effective as a sharp razor, O deceiver. ² 

They ¹  sharpen their tongues like a sword; they aim their arrow, a slanderous charge, ² 

May my tongue sing about your instructions, ¹  for all your commands are just.

Their tongues wound like a serpent; ¹  a viper’s ²  venom is behind ³  their lips. (Selah)

I, the Lord, affirm ¹  that I am opposed to those prophets who are using their own tongues to declare, ‘The Lord declares….’ ² 

And tongues spreading out like a fire ¹  appeared to them and came to rest on each one of them.

for they heard them speaking in tongues and praising ¹  God. Then Peter said,

Not all have gifts of healing, do they? Not all speak in tongues, do they? Not all interpret, do they? ¹ 

If ¹  I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unproductive.

I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you,

You do damage with words, ¹  and use your tongue to deceive. ²

The mind that acts rashly will possess discernment ¹  and the tongue that stutters will speak with ease and clarity.

The city’s rich men think nothing of resorting to violence; ¹  her inhabitants lie, ²  their tongues speak deceptive words. ³ 

The one who speaks in a tongue builds himself up, ¹  but the one who prophesies builds up the church.

So then, one who speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret.
