Abraham and Sarah were old and advancing in years; ¹  Sarah had long since passed menopause.) ² 

Now Abraham was old, well advanced in years, ¹  and the Lord had blessed him ²  in everything.

Moreover, this will become my deliverance, for no godless person would come before him. ¹ 

As soon as they see, ¹  they are shocked; ²  they are terrified, they quickly retreat. ³ 

They are immune to the trouble common to men; they do not suffer as other men do. ¹ 

And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, ¹  worth less than a penny.

But they did not have a child, because Elizabeth was barren, ¹  and they were both very old. ² 

A great number of the people followed him, among them women ¹  who were mourning ²  and wailing for him.

“Come on! Let’s return to the Lord! He himself has torn us to pieces, but he will heal us! He has injured ¹  us, but he will bandage our wounds!

David felt guilty ¹  after he had numbered the army. David said to the Lord, “I have sinned greatly by doing this! Now, O Lord, please remove the guilt of your servant, for I have acted very foolishly.”

Then I said, “Lord, ¹  have you completely rejected the nation of Judah? Do you despise ²  the city of Zion? Why have you struck us with such force that we are beyond recovery? ³  We hope for peace, but nothing good has come of it. We hope for a time of relief from our troubles, but experience terror. ⁴ 

For the Lord ¹  had caused infertility to strike every woman ²  in the household of Abimelech because he took ³  Sarah, Abraham’s wife.

So Joshua summoned all Israel, including the elders, rulers, judges, and leaders, and told them: “I am very old.

And you will get a serious, chronic intestinal disease which will cause your intestines to come out.” ¹ 

In those days Hezekiah was stricken with a terminal illness. ¹  He prayed to the Lord, who answered him and gave him a sign confirming that he would be healed. ² 

Esther replied, “The oppressor and enemy is this evil Haman!” Then Haman became terrified in the presence of the king and queen.

My child, ²  if you have made a pledge ³  for your neighbor, and ⁴  have become a guarantor ⁵  for a stranger, ⁶ 

Do not rush out of the king’s presence in haste – do not delay when the matter is unpleasant, ¹  for he can do whatever he pleases.

They ¹  will go into caves in the rocky cliffs and into holes in the ground, ²  trying to escape the dreadful judgment of the Lord ³  and his royal splendor, when he rises up to terrify the earth. ⁴ 

My heart palpitates, ¹  I shake in fear; ²  the twilight I desired has brought me terror.
