influenced by the hypocrisy of liars ¹  whose consciences are seared. ² 

they did something clever. They collected some provisions ¹  and put worn-out sacks on their donkeys, along with worn-out wineskins that were ripped and patched.

In spite of all this, ¹  Israel’s sister, unfaithful Judah, has not turned back to me with any sincerity; she has only pretended to do so,” ²  says the Lord.

Foreigners are powerless before me; ¹  when they hear of my exploits, they submit to me. ² 

Do you intend to criticize mere words, and treat ¹  the words of a despairing man as wind?

How then can a human being be righteous before God? How can one born of a woman be pure? ¹ 

Why do you look the other way, ¹  and ignore ²  the way we are oppressed and mistreated? ³ 

My own brothers treat me like a stranger; they act as if I were a foreigner. ¹ 

Cruel rulers ¹  are not your allies, those who make oppressive laws. ² 

The one who hates others disguises ¹  it with his lips, but he stores up ²  deceit within him. ³ 

When ¹  he speaks graciously, ²  do not believe him, ³  for there are seven ⁴  abominations ⁵  within him.

I, the Lord, affirm ¹  that I am opposed to those prophets who are using their own tongues to declare, ‘The Lord declares….’ ²

I spelled out my law for him in great detail, but they regard it as something totally unknown ¹  to them!

But Jesus realized their evil intentions and said, “Hypocrites! Why are you testing me?

and will cut him in two, ¹  and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Immediately ¹  he went up to Jesus and said, “Greetings, Rabbi,” and kissed him. ² 

But the one who denies me before men will be denied before God’s angels.
