They turn the needy from the pathway, and the poor of the land hide themselves together. ¹ 

There is abundant food in the field ¹  of the poor, but it is swept away by injustice. ² 

for the needy are not permanently ignored, ¹  the hopes of the oppressed are not forever dashed. ² 

For I am oppressed and needy, and my heart beats violently within me. ¹ 

His sons must recompense ¹  the poor; his own hands ²  must return his wealth.

Before daybreak ¹  the murderer rises up; he kills the poor and the needy; in the night he is ²  like a thief. ³ 

If I have refused to give the poor what they desired, ¹  or caused the eyes of the widow to fail,

so that they caused ¹  the cry of the poor to come before him, so that he hears ²  the cry of the needy.

He raises the poor from the dirt, and lifts up the needy from the garbage pile, ¹ 

The ransom ¹  of a person’s ²  life is his wealth, but the poor person hears no threat. ³ 

The one who mocks the poor ¹  insults ²  his Creator; whoever rejoices over disaster will not go unpunished.

Better is a poor person who walks in his integrity ¹  than one who is perverse in his speech ²  and is a fool. ³ 

What is desirable ¹  for a person is to show loyal love, ²  and a poor person is better than a liar. ³ 

The one who shuts his ears ¹  to the cry ²  of the poor, he too will cry out and will not be answered. ³ 

The rich rule over ¹  the poor, and the borrower is servant ²  to the lender.

A poor person ¹  who walks in his integrity is better than one who is perverse in his ways ²  even though ³  he is rich. ⁴ 

A rich person ¹  is wise in his own eyes, ²  but a discerning poor person can evaluate him properly. ³ 

The one who gives to the poor will not lack, ¹  but whoever shuts his eyes to them ²  will receive ³  many curses. ⁴ 

The righteous person cares for ¹  the legal rights ²  of the poor; the wicked does not understand such ³  knowledge.

The poor person and the oppressor ¹  have this in common: ²  the Lord gives light ³  to the eyes of them both.
