and I saw among the naive – I discerned among the youths ¹  – a young man ²  who lacked wisdom. ³ 

She knows ¹  that her merchandise is good, and her lamp ²  does not go out in the night.

But Jesus realized their evil intentions and said, “Hypocrites! Why are you testing me?

But when Jesus discerned their innermost thoughts, ¹  he took a child, had him stand by ²  his side,

Then Peter started speaking: ¹  “I now truly understand that God does not show favoritism in dealing with people, ² 

Then I entered the precincts of God’s temple, ¹  and understood the destiny of the wicked. ² 

To ¹  learn ²  wisdom ³  and moral instruction, ⁴  and to discern ⁵  wise counsel. ⁶ 

I recognized the fact that God had not sent him, for he had spoken the prophecy against me as a hired agent of Tobiah and Sanballat. ¹ 

If ¹  his sons are honored, ²  he does not know it; ³  if they are brought low, he does not see ⁴  it.

“Look, I am about to do something new. Now it begins to happen! ¹  Do you not recognize ²  it? Yes, I will make a road in the desert and paths ³  in the wilderness.

Now ¹  immediately, when Jesus realized in his spirit that they were contemplating such thoughts, ²  he said to them, “Why are you thinking such things in your hearts? ³

Then Jesus, because he knew they were going to come and seize him by force to make him king, withdrew again up the mountainside alone. ¹ 

When they saw the boldness ¹  of Peter and John, and discovered ²  that they were uneducated ³  and ordinary ⁴  men, they were amazed and recognized these men had been with Jesus.

So Paul stood ¹  before the Areopagus and said, “Men of Athens, I see that you are very religious ²  in all respects. ³ 

Then the Lord called Samuel a third time. So he got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me!” Eli then realized that it was the Lord who was calling the boy.

Then when Paul noticed ¹  that part of them were Sadducees ²  and the others Pharisees, ³  he shouted out in the council, ⁴  “Brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees. I am on trial concerning the hope of the resurrection ⁵  of the dead!”

But to this very day the Lord has not given you an understanding mind, perceptive eyes, or discerning ears! ¹ 

Then they say, “The Lord does not see this; the God of Jacob does not take notice of it.” ¹ 

When reading this, ¹  you will be able to ²  understand my insight into this secret ³  of Christ.
