He defeated the Philistines as far as Gaza and its territory, from the watchtower to the city fortress. ¹ 

David did just as God commanded him, and they struck down the Philistine army from Gibeon to Gezer.

He defeated the Moabites; the Moabites became David’s subjects and brought tribute. ¹ 

She persuaded him ¹  with persuasive words; ²  with her smooth talk ³  she compelled him. ⁴ 

for he refuted the Jews vigorously ¹  in public debate, ²  demonstrating from the scriptures that the Christ ³  was Jesus. ⁴ 

Through faith they conquered kingdoms, administered justice, ¹  gained what was promised, ²  shut the mouths of lions,

I would go out after it, strike it down, and rescue the sheep from its mouth. If it rose up against me, I would grab it by its jaw, strike it, and kill it.

In the fourteenth year, Kedorlaomer and the kings who were his allies came and defeated ¹  the Rephaites in Ashteroth Karnaim, the Zuzites in Ham, the Emites in Shaveh Kiriathaim,

Then, during the night, ¹  Abram ²  divided his forces ³  against them and defeated them. He chased them as far as Hobah, which is north ⁴  of Damascus.

When Husham died, Hadad the son of Bedad, who defeated the Midianites in the land of Moab, reigned in his place; the name of his city was Avith.

So the Amalekites and the Canaanites who lived in that hill country swooped ¹  down and attacked them ²  as far as Hormah. ³ 

But the Israelites ¹  defeated him in battle ²  and took possession of his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, as far as the Ammonites, for the border of the Ammonites was strongly defended.

So they defeated Og, ¹  his sons, and all his people, until there were no survivors, ²  and they possessed his land.

The Amorite inhabitants of that area ¹  confronted ²  you and chased you like a swarm of bees, striking you down from Seir as far as Hormah. ³ 

the Lord our God delivered him over to us and we struck him down, along with his sons ¹  and everyone else. ² 

So the Lord our God did indeed give over to us King Og of Bashan and his whole army and we struck them down until not a single survivor was left. ¹ 

When you came to this place King Sihon of Heshbon and King Og of Bashan came out to make war and we defeated them.

When Joshua and all Israel saw that the men in ambush had captured the city and that the city was going up in smoke, ¹  they turned around and struck down the men of Ai.

Then King Horam of Gezer came up to help Lachish, but Joshua struck down him and his army ¹  until no survivors remained.
