lest they drink and forget what is decreed, and remove ¹  from all the poor ²  their legal rights. ³ 

Open your mouth ¹  on behalf of those unable to speak, ²  for the legal rights of all the dying. ³ 

Tie up the scroll as legal evidence, ¹  seal the official record of God’s instructions and give it to my followers. ² 

“After I had given the copies of the deed of purchase to Baruch son of Neriah, I prayed to the Lord,

How much more valuable is a person than a sheep! So it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”

So ¹  the child’s ²  father ³  and mother were amazed ⁴  at what was said about him.

For a will takes effect only at death, since it carries no force while the one who made it is alive.

A single witness may not testify ¹  against another person for any trespass or sin that he commits. A matter may be legally established ²  only on the testimony of two or three witnesses.

If controversy arises between people, ¹  they should go to court for judgment. When the judges ²  hear the case, they shall exonerate ³  the innocent but condemn ⁴  the guilty.
