He prayed: ¹  “O Lord, God of Israel, there is no god like you in heaven above or on earth below! You maintain covenantal loyalty ²  to your servants who obey you with sincerity. ³ 

Sheol ¹  below is stirred up about you, ready to meet you when you arrive. It rouses ²  the spirits of the dead for you, all the former leaders of the earth; ³  it makes all the former kings of the nations rise from their thrones. ⁴ 

For Israel’s sake I destroyed the Amorites. ¹  They were as tall as cedars ²  and as strong as oaks, but I destroyed the fruit on their branches ³  and their roots in the ground. ⁴

It regards iron as straw and bronze as rotten wood.

The splendid crown of Ephraim’s drunkards will be trampled underfoot.

(The cherubim appeared to have the form ¹  of human hands under their wings.)

God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place ¹  and let dry ground appear.” ²  It was so.
