He took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and became anguished and distressed.

He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James, ¹  and John, the brother of James.

He spoke openly about this. So ¹  Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.

Peter began to speak to him, “Look, ¹  we have left everything to follow you!” ² 

Peter said to him, “Even if they all fall away, I will not!”

He took Peter, James, ¹  and John with him, and became very troubled and distressed.

Now ¹  while Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the high priest’s slave girls ²  came by.

Then ¹  Peter said, “Lord, are you telling this parable for us or for everyone?” ² 

And Peter said, “Look, we have left everything we own ¹  to follow you!” ² 

So Simon Peter ¹  gestured to this disciple ²  to ask Jesus ³  who it was he was referring to. ⁴ 

The two were running together, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter ¹  and reached the tomb first. ² 

When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple courts, ¹  he asked them for money. ² 

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, ¹  replied, ²  “Rulers of the people and elders, ³ 

But Peter and the apostles replied, ¹  “We must obey ²  God rather than people. ³ 

Now ¹  send men to Joppa ²  and summon a man named Simon, ³  who is called Peter.

But Peter said, “Certainly not, Lord, for I have never eaten anything defiled and ritually unclean!” ¹ 

But Peter helped him up, ¹  saying, “Stand up. I too am a mere mortal.” ² 

Then Peter started speaking: ¹  “I now truly understand that God does not show favoritism in dealing with people, ² 

While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on ¹  all those who heard the message. ² 

for they heard them speaking in tongues and praising ¹  God. Then Peter said,
