Surely it is an empty cry ¹  – God does not hear it; the Almighty does not take notice of it.

Let his own eyes see his destruction; ¹  let him drink of the anger of the Almighty.

Surely then you will delight yourself ¹  in the Almighty, and will lift up your face toward God.

when the Almighty ¹  was still with me and my children were ²  around me;

“Will the one who contends ¹  with the Almighty correct him? ²  Let the person who accuses God give him an answer!”

Jacob said to Joseph, “The sovereign God ¹  appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan and blessed me.

As for you, the one who lives ²  in the shelter of the sovereign One, ³  and resides in the protective shadow ⁴  of the mighty king ⁵  –

Wail, for the Lord’s day of judgment ¹  is near; it comes with all the destructive power of the sovereign judge. ² 

How awful that day will be! ¹  For the day of the Lord is near; it will come as destruction from the Divine Destroyer. ² 

and I will be a father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters,” ¹  says the All-Powerful Lord. ² 

Now ¹  I saw no temple in the city, because the Lord God – the All-Powerful ²  – and the Lamb are its temple.

For the arrows ¹  of the Almighty ²  are within me; my spirit ³  drinks their poison; ⁴  God’s sudden terrors ⁵  are arrayed ⁶  against me.

Is it of any special benefit ¹  to the Almighty that you should be righteous, or is it any gain to him that you make your ways blameless? ² 

“Why are times not appointed by ¹  the Almighty? ²  Why do those who know him not see his days?

“As surely as God lives, ¹  who has denied me justice, ²  the Almighty, who has made my life bitter ³  –

I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as ¹  God Almighty, ²  but by ³  my name ‘the Lord’ ⁴  I was not known to them. ⁵ 

the oracle of the one who hears the words of God, who sees a vision from the Almighty, although falling flat on the ground ¹  with eyes open: ² 

the oracle of the one who hears the words of God, and who knows the knowledge of the Most High, who sees a vision from the Almighty, although falling flat on the ground with eyes open:

“Therefore, listen to me, you men of understanding. ¹  Far be it from ²  God to do wickedness, from the Almighty to do evil.

As for the Almighty, ¹  we cannot attain to him! He is great in power, but justice ²  and abundant righteousness he does not oppress.
