The woman replied, ¹  “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “Right you are when you said, ²  ‘I have no husband,’ ³ 

for you have had five husbands, and the man you are living with ¹  now is not your husband. This you said truthfully!”

(but if she does, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband), and a husband should not divorce his wife.

For how do you know, wife, whether you will bring your husband to salvation? ¹  Or how do you know, husband, whether you will bring your wife to salvation? ² 

A wife is bound as long as her husband is living. But if her husband dies, ¹  she is free to marry anyone she wishes (only someone in the Lord).

But I want you to know that Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of a woman, ¹  and God is the head of Christ.

For a man should not have his head covered, since he is the image and glory of God. But the woman is the glory of the man.

For just as woman came from man, so man comes through woman. But all things come from God.

and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, by whom ¹  Jesus was born, who is called Christ. ² 

And if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.” ¹ 

to a virgin engaged ¹  to a man whose name was Joseph, a descendant of David, ²  and the virgin’s name was Mary.

Mary ¹  said to the angel, “How will this be, since I have not had sexual relations with ²  a man?”

For I tell you, not one of those individuals ¹  who were invited ²  will taste my banquet!’” ³ 

As ¹  he was entering ²  a village, ten men with leprosy ³  met him. They ⁴  stood at a distance,

Now ¹  a man named Zacchaeus was there; he was a chief tax collector ²  and was rich.

And when the people ¹  saw it, they all complained, ²  “He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.” ³ 

Now ¹  the men who were holding Jesus ²  under guard began to mock him and beat him.

– children not born ¹  by human parents ²  or by human desire ³  or a husband’s ⁴  decision, ⁵  but by God.

He ¹  said to her, “Go call your husband and come back here.” ² 

Now there were devout Jews ¹  from every nation under heaven residing in Jerusalem. ²
