This gospel ¹  he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy scriptures,

Contribute to the needs of the saints, pursue hospitality.

But now I go to Jerusalem to minister to the saints.

For it is not necessary ¹  for me to write you about this service ²  to the saints,

And the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us, for after saying, ¹ 

If the first portion ¹  of the dough offered is holy, then the whole batch is holy, and if the root is holy, so too are the branches. ² 

for no prophecy was ever borne of human impulse; rather, men ¹  carried along by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith, by praying in the Holy Spirit, ¹ 

Each one of the four living creatures had six wings ¹  and was full of eyes all around and inside. ²  They never rest day or night, saying: ³  “Holy Holy Holy is the Lord God, the All-Powerful, ⁴  Who was and who is, and who is still to come!”

Then the devil took him to the holy city, ¹  had him stand ²  on the highest point ³  of the temple,

And tombs were opened, and the bodies of many saints who had died ¹  were raised.

(They ¹  came out of the tombs after his resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people.)

I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

because he who is mighty ¹  has done great things for me, and holy is his name;

as he spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets from long ago, ¹ 

He has done this ¹  to show mercy ²  to our ancestors, ³  and to remember his holy covenant ⁴  –

(just as it is written in the law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male ¹  will be set apart to the Lord” ² ),

Then ¹  Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River ²  and was led by the Spirit ³  in ⁴  the wilderness, ⁵ 

for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that moment ¹  what you must say.” ² 

And after he said this, he breathed on them and said, ¹  “Receive the Holy Spirit. ²
