who longed to eat ¹  what fell from the rich man’s table. In addition, the dogs ²  came and licked ³  his sores.

And in the same way he took ¹  the cup after they had eaten, ²  saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant ³  in my blood.

For who is greater, the one who is seated at the table, ¹  or the one who serves? Is it not ²  the one who is seated at the table? But I am among you as one ³  who serves.

Then the Jews who were hostile to Jesus ¹  began to argue with one another, ²  “How can this man ³  give us his flesh to eat?”

Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so the one who consumes ¹  me will live because of me.

After he said this, Paul ¹  took bread ²  and gave thanks to God in front of them all, ³  broke ⁴  it, and began to eat.

And David says, “Let their table become a snare and trap, a stumbling block and a retribution for them;

It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything that causes your brother to stumble. ¹ 

With regard to food sacrificed to idols, we know that “we all have knowledge.” ¹  Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.

If you sin against your brothers or sisters ¹  in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.

For this reason, if food causes my brother or sister to sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I may not cause one of them ¹  to sin.

If we sowed spiritual blessings among you, is it too much to reap material things from you?

and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they were all drinking from the spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Christ.

So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.

For every time you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

For the one who eats and drinks without careful regard ¹  for the body eats and drinks judgment against himself.

Now God ¹  who provides seed for the sower and bread for food will provide and multiply your supply of seed and will cause the harvest of your righteousness to grow.

in hard work and toil, ¹  through many sleepless nights, in hunger and thirst, many times without food, in cold and without enough clothing. ² 

Now in a wealthy home ¹  there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also ones made of wood and of clay, and some are for honorable use, but others for ignoble use. ² 

Do not neglect hospitality, because through it some have entertained angels without knowing it. ¹
