The next morning ¹  Jesus ²  departed and went to a deserted place. Yet ³  the crowds were seeking him, and they came to him and tried to keep him from leaving them.

When ¹  morning came, he called his disciples and chose twelve of them, whom he also named apostles: ² 

Now very early on the first day of the week, ¹  while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene ²  came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been moved away from the entrance. ³ 

When day came, they did not recognize the land, but they noticed ¹  a bay ²  with a beach, ³  where they decided to run the ship aground if they could.

So in the morning the older daughter ¹  said to the younger, “Since I had sexual relations with my father last night, let’s make him drunk again tonight. ²  Then you go and have sexual relations with him so we can preserve our family line through our father.” ³ 

When the king of Ai saw Israel, he and his whole army quickly got up the next day and went out to fight Israel at the meeting place near the Arabah. ¹  But he did not realize ²  men were hiding behind the city. ³ 

It will be ¹  a day of dreadful darkness, ²  a day of foreboding storm clouds, ³  like blackness ⁴  spread over the mountains. It is a huge and powerful army ⁵  – there has never been anything like it ever before, and there will not be anything like it for many generations to come! ⁶ 

When ¹  the layer of dew had evaporated, ²  there on the surface of the desert was a thin flaky substance, ³  thin like frost on the earth.

That night God did as he asked. ¹  Only the fleece was dry and the ground around it was covered with dew.

Day after day it speaks out; ¹  night after night it reveals his greatness. ² 

I am dazed ¹  and completely humiliated; ²  all day long I walk around mourning.

May their eyes be blinded! ¹  Make them shake violently! ² 

Have mercy on me, ¹  O Lord, for I cry out to you all day long!

In the middle of the night I arise ¹  to thank you for your just regulations.

Praise him, O sun and moon! Praise him, all you shiny stars! ¹ 

Blessed is the one ¹  who listens to me, watching ²  at my doors day by day, waiting ³  beside my doorway. ⁴ 

A king’s wrath is like ¹  the roar of a lion, ²  but his favor is like dew on the grass. ³ 

Let your clothes always be white, and do not spare precious ointment on your head.

but on the day Lot went out from Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. ¹ 

The next day Paul went in with us to see James, and all the elders were there. ¹
