And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God ¹  has been poured out ²  in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

So then, just as sin entered the world through one man and death through sin, and so death spread to all people ¹  because ²  all sinned –

For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will certainly also be united in the likeness of his resurrection. ¹ 

For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers together until now.

As it is written, “For your sake we encounter death all day long; we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” ¹ 

So then, ¹  God ²  has mercy on whom he chooses to have mercy, and he hardens whom he chooses to harden. ³ 

so we who are many are one body in Christ, and individually we are members who belong to one another.

And we speak about these things, not with words taught us by human wisdom, but with those taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual things to spiritual people. ¹ 

What is Apollos, really? Or what is Paul? Servants through whom you came to believe, and each of us in the ministry the Lord gave us. ¹ 

when people lie about us, we answer in a friendly manner. We are the world’s dirt and scum, even now.

Now food will not bring us close to God. We are no worse if we do not eat and no better if we do.

There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon and another glory of the stars, for star differs from star in glory.

Listen, ¹  I will tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, ²  but we will all be changed –

For we do not write you anything other than what ¹  you can read and also understand. But I hope that you will understand completely ² 

Therefore, since we have this ministry, just as God has shown us mercy, ¹  we do not become discouraged. ² 

For we do not proclaim ¹  ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your slaves ²  for Jesus’ sake.

But since we have the same spirit of faith as that shown in ¹  what has been written, “I believed; therefore I spoke,” ²  we also believe, therefore we also speak.

Therefore we do not despair, ¹  but even if our physical body ²  is wearing away, our inner person ³  is being renewed day by day.

For in this earthly house ¹  we groan, because we desire to put on ²  our heavenly dwelling,

And we are sending ¹  along with him the brother who is praised by all the churches for his work in spreading the gospel. ²
